The 2020 Hyundai Veloster Brings Unique Design and Driving Excitement to Joliet, IL

Hyundai introduced the second generation of its Veloster hatchback for the 2019 model year; debuting refreshed interior and exterior designs, a new base engine, and an upgraded suspension for an improved, sportier driving experience. The 2020 Hyundai Veloster builds on that model by including a blind-spot monitoring system on Turbo R-Spec models, a wireless charging pad on Turbo and Turbo Ultimate models, and a standardized automatic transmission for the Turbo Ultimate trim.

2020 Hyundai Veloster Design

While many changes were made to keep the Veloster's design fresh and upgrade its performance, this compact hatchback holds on to the element that makes it stand out in the segment: its unique three-door configuration. In addition to the rear hatch and single driver-side door, the Veloster boasts one-and-a-half doors on the passenger side, making it much easier for rear passengers to enter and exit compared to the typical compact hatchback.

Veloster Powertrains

The 2.0 and Premium trim levels are powered by a standard 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 147 horsepower and 132 pound-feet of torque. A six-speed manual transmission is standard on 2.0 models and a six-speed automatic transmission is standard on Premium models and is optional on 2.0 models.

Turbo R-Spec, Turbo, and Turbo Ultimate models find their motivation in a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder that boosts output to 201 horsepower and 196 pound-feet of torque. The R-Spec trim comes with a six-speed manual transmission, while the Turbo and Ultimate trims get a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic.

Finally, at the top of the lineup, the ultra-sporty Veloster N features a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine rated at 250 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque, with a six-speed manual transmission.

Hyundai Veloster Trim Levels

All Veloster models feature tie-down hooks in the cargo area and nearly 20 cubic-feet of cargo room with all seats in place. The 60/40-split rear seatback can be folded down to expand available carrying capacity to 44.5 cubic-feet.

  • 2020 Hyundai Veloster 2.0 - The base trim level kicks things off with standard features like a 7-inch color touchscreen infotainment system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration, a Bluetooth hands-free phone system, steering-wheel-mounted controls, and a variety of advanced safety features and driver assistance technologies.
